Farm Intern

​

Job Summary:

Intern will participate in supervised practical application of science and engineering fundamentals in disciplines, such as, chemistry, biology, and chemical/mechanical engineering. Will have the opportunity to conduct science and engineering tests on hardware utilizing algae farm test equipment to determine suitability of Global Algae Innovations’ baseline algal strains and processes.

 

Essential Functions:

1. Performs daily assigned tasks per the operating supervisor

2. Feeds algae ponds, performs pond transfers and harvesting

3. Assists in fabrication, assembly, and installation of basic experimental and commercial equipment

4. Uses and maintains farm equipment; cleans outdoor ponds, tanks, and sumps as needed

5. Helps conduct experiments and tests according to pre-arranged procedures; records relevant data

6. Records information on appropriate production records, logs and other report forms; provides inputs to reports as required

7. Data reporting and upload to the database

8. Understand and keep current with chemical safety and MSDS

9. Cleaning the indoor and outdoor farm space.

10. Participate in the day-to-day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of non-routine and advanced tasks.

11. Participate in selected science and engineering experiments, tests, and reviews.

12. Assist in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve non-routine problems. Assist in developing reports, records, diagrams, and tests.

13. Interacts with co-workers, suppliers, customers, and partners in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner

14. Fosters an environment of safety, camaraderie, and integrity in all aspects of work

15. Observes all laws, regulations, other applicable obligations, and Company ethical standards while on duty, wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company

16. Performs work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

17. Notifies management of any activities that could violate or have the appearance of violating laws, regulations, obligations, ethical standards, potentially unsafe working conditions, procedures, or practices

 

Qualifications, Skills and Physical Demands

• Must be able to sit and use a computer

• Must be able to traverse indoor and outdoor farm

• Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, and interpersonal skills

• Computer literate with the knowledge of applications pertinent to position objectives

• Must be able to communicate via phone and email with colleges and business contacts

• Must have ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and learn new concepts quickly

• Must be able to think strategically and have the ability to use independent judgment

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
