Bookkeeper

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for recording all accounting transactions into QuickBooks and reconciling with VP of Finance to ensure that all records meet government accounting requirements.  Bookkeeper must implement GAAP in all areas of work, understand cost accounting, organize invoices, run reports, and work with team to ensure best accounting policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for recording all accounting transactions into QuickBooks while meeting all government accounting requirements

  2. Work with VP of Finance to ensure that all transactions are properly recorded and navigate challenges to ensure that allowable and non-allowable transactions are accurate

  3. Responsible for financial reporting to Senior Management team

  4. Work with VP of Finance to streamline accounting systems, ensure accuracy of AP invoices, and timeliness of recording transactions

  5. Responsible for obtaining company credit card receipts from team members and reconciling company credit card transactions

  6. Collaborate with VP of Finance to create project budgets in QuickBooks

  7. Work with VP of Finance to invoice all customers bi-weekly

  8. Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of month-end close of accounting records

  9. Support annual financial audits and tax filings with reports, research, and system improvements

  10. Interacts with co-workers, suppliers, customers, and partners in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner

  11. Foster an environment of safety, camaraderie, and integrity in all aspects of work

  12. Observe all laws, regulations, other applicable obligations, and company ethical standards while on duty, wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company

  13. Perform work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

  14. Notify management of any activities that could violate or have the appearance of violating laws, regulations, obligations, ethical standards, potentially unsafe working conditions, procedures, or practices

Qualifications, Skills and Physical Demands:

  • Bachelors or Masters in accounting related major

  • CPA preferred

  • Minimum two years QuickBooks experience required

  • Minimum two years bookkeeping experience required

  • Knowledge of government accounting practices, allowable/unallowable expenses, and indirect rates preferred

  • Exceptional in excel, word and QuickBooks

  • Must be able to work weekend shifts and extended hours as required

  • Must be able to sit and use a computer for most of the day

  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to communicate via phone and email with colleges and business contacts daily

  • Must have ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and learn new concepts quickly

  • Must be able to think strategically and have the ability to use independent judgment
