ANALYTICAL CHEMIST

Global Algae Innovations is seeking an Analytical Chemist (TOC/TN). This position will begin in early 2018 at our Kauai location.

Global Algae Innovations is a leader in low cost algae production. The laboratory is located in Lihue and is equipped with state of the art laboratory equipment. The algae farm is located by the Lihue power plant and is one of the most advanced algae production facilities in the country.

Job Summary
Global Algae Innovations is seeking an analytical chemist who will develop, validate and execute TOC/TN analytical methods for water and biological samples. The candidate will also assist with development, validation and execution of other analytical methods including CHN analysis, ash free dry weight and colorimetric water analysis for phosphate, nitrate, ammonia and silica. 

Qualifications
- Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or other related scientific field.
- Must have hands on experience with operation, trouble-shooting and optimizing TOC/TN analysis.
- Ability to design, perform and interpret analytical tests.
- Ability to develop SOPs and QAQC protocol.
- Must have ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to think strategically and have the ability to use independent judgment.
- Must be able to walk around a lab and stand most of the day.
- Must be able to sit and use a computer for most of the day.
- Must be able to communicate via phone and email with colleges and business contacts daily.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work weekend shifts, and extended hours.

STAFF ENGINEER/CONTROLS PROGRAMMER

Global Algae Innovations is seeking a Staff Engineer/Controls Programmer. This position will begin in early 2018 at our San Diego location and requires a significant amount of travel.

Job Summary
Global Algae Innovations is seeking a staff engineer/programmer who will determine technical objectives for the review, research, design, development, and/or solution to advanced technical or scientific problems. May function in an advisory or project leadership role providing direction to experienced professional staff. Formulates plans, typically long term, for solution development, documentation, and deployment, as well as meeting various compliance, reporting, and safety standards. The candidate will also assist with development, validation, and execution of other analytical methods including CHN analysis, ash free dry weight and colorimetric water analysis for phosphate, nitrate, ammonia and silica.

Qualifications
Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Scientific, Engineering, or other related technical field.
- Typically minimum experience is twelve or more years with a bachelor’s degree, ten or more years with a master’s degree, and seven or more years with a Ph.D.
- Demonstrated ability to convey technical information clearly to individuals with varying degrees of expertise.
- Must have ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
- Possesses the technical skills required to oversee innovative designs and to solve complex technical problems.
- Technical oversight capability to schedule and cost performance, and to coordinate phases of engineering, experimental, or other scientific work as a part of a major project, or as a total project of moderate scope.
- Must be able to think strategically and have the ability to use independent judgment.
- Must be able to walk around a work site and stand most of the day.
- Must be fully computer literate with versatile knowledge of computer operations pertinent to the field, specifically PLC programming and controls.
- Must be able to communicate via phone and email with colleges and business contacts daily.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work weekend shifts, extended hours, and travel extensively.
